Alternative pleading

A legal strategy where a party presents two or more inconsistent claims or defenses in the same pleading. This allows the party to pursue all plausible theories, even if they contradict each other, until the facts are fully established. For example, a plaintiff might allege both breach of contract and fraud in the same complaint.
