Demur

To object or raise an exception to a pleading in a lawsuit, asserting that even if the facts alleged by the opposing party are true, they are legally insufficient to state a cause of action or defense. This legal maneuver challenges the legal sufficiency of the claims, not the factual accuracy. If a demurrer is sustained, the pleading may be dismissed or require amendment.
