Demurrer

A formal pleading in a lawsuit that challenges the legal sufficiency of the opposing party's complaint or answer, arguing that even if the facts presented are true, they do not establish a valid claim or defense under the law. It essentially asks the court to dismiss the case or a portion of it without proceeding to trial on the merits. If granted, the plaintiff may be given leave to amend their complaint.
