Compromise

An agreement reached between two or more parties in a dispute, where each party makes concessions to resolve their differences without resorting to litigation or further conflict. This mutual adjustment of demands often results in a settlement that is acceptable to all involved. Compromises are common in contract negotiations and civil litigation.
