Conflict of interest

A situation where a person or organization has competing professional or personal interests that could potentially compromise their objectivity, judgment, or actions. In law, this often arises when an attorney represents clients with opposing interests or has a personal stake in the outcome of a case. Ethical rules and professional standards exist to manage and prevent conflicts of interest.
