Condonation

The act of forgiving or overlooking a marital offense, such as adultery or cruelty, by one spouse, with the intention of resuming marital cohabitation. For condonation to be effective, the injured spouse must have full knowledge of the offense and voluntarily resume marital relations. It can serve as a defense in divorce proceedings in some jurisdictions.
