Consent decree

A court order that embodies a settlement agreement between two or more parties in a lawsuit, entered with the consent of all parties. It has the force of a judgment and can be enforced by the court, but it is not an admission of guilt or liability. Consent decrees are frequently used in civil rights cases and antitrust litigation.
