Corporate raider

An investor or entity that pursues a hostile takeover of a corporation by acquiring a controlling interest in its stock. The objective is often to gain control of the target company's board of directors and then implement changes, such as restructuring or liquidating assets, for a quick profit. Defensive tactics used by target companies include poison pills and white knight arrangements.
