Deferred prosecution agreement

A voluntary agreement between a prosecutor and a defendant, typically a corporation, to suspend criminal proceedings for a specified period. In exchange for suspending the case, the defendant agrees to meet certain conditions, such as paying a fine, implementing compliance reforms, or cooperating with an ongoing investigation. If the defendant satisfies the terms of the deferred prosecution agreement (DPA), the prosecutor dismisses the charges.
