Depreciable asset

A tangible property, such as machinery, buildings, or vehicles, that loses value over time due to wear and tear, obsolescence, or consumption. Businesses deduct a portion of the asset's cost over its useful life, reducing their taxable income. Land is not considered a depreciable asset because it does not wear out.
