Divestment

The act of selling or otherwise disposing of an asset, subsidiary, or interest in property. A company might divest a non-core business unit to focus on its primary operations, or an individual might sell off real estate holdings. Divestment can be voluntary, driven by strategic goals, or involuntary, as when compelled by a court order in an antitrust case or by regulatory requirements.
