Dynamite charge

A judicial instruction given to a deadlocked jury, encouraging them to reconsider their positions and attempt to reach a verdict. This instruction, also known as an Allen charge, urges jurors in the minority to re-examine their views in light of the majority's arguments, and vice versa, without surrendering their honest convictions. Its use is controversial, with some arguing it can coerce verdicts.
