Dying declaration

A statement made by a person who believes they are about to die, concerning the cause or circumstances of their impending death. This statement is an exception to the hearsay rule in criminal trials, particularly in homicide cases. For a dying declaration to be admissible, the declarant must have been conscious of their imminent death and the statement must relate directly to the fatal injury.
