Emergency powers

Extraordinary authority granted to the executive branch of government during times of crisis, such as war, natural disaster, or public health emergency. These powers allow the government to take actions that would otherwise be restricted, like imposing curfews or seizing property. In the United States, the National Emergencies Act governs the declaration and termination of national emergencies.
