False advertising

The use of misleading, deceptive, or untruthful statements or representations in advertising to promote a product or service. This practice is prohibited by federal and state consumer protection laws, such as the Federal Trade Commission Act. Advertisements must be truthful and not mislead consumers about the nature, characteristics, or qualities of goods or services.
