Foster parent

An individual or couple who provides temporary care and a home for a child placed in the foster care system by a state agency. Foster parents are licensed and supervised by the state and are responsible for the child's daily needs, education, and emotional support. They do not have permanent legal custody but act as temporary guardians under state oversight.
