General damages

Monetary compensation awarded to a plaintiff for non-economic losses that are the natural and probable consequence of a defendant's wrongful act. These damages are not easily quantifiable and include pain and suffering, emotional distress, and loss of enjoyment of life. They are distinct from special damages, which cover specific, quantifiable economic losses.
