Compensation

A monetary payment awarded to a person to make amends for a loss, injury, or wrong they have suffered. This includes payments for actual damages, such as medical expenses and lost wages, as well as for non-economic harm like pain and suffering. In contract law, compensation is the remedy for a breach, while in tort law, it is the payment for damages caused by another's wrongful act.
