Any loss or detriment suffered by a person, which can be physical, emotional, financial, or reputational. In tort law, a plaintiff must demonstrate that they suffered actual harm as a direct result of the defendant's actions to recover damages. The extent of harm is a key factor in determining the amount of compensation awarded.
