General devise

A gift of real property made in a will that is payable out of the general assets of the estate, rather than from a specific, identifiable parcel of land. This type of devise does not specify a particular piece of real estate. For example, a gift of "a house to my son" is a general devise, as opposed to a specific devise of a named property.
