Indeterminate sentence

A sentence of imprisonment for a crime that is not for a definite duration, but rather for a range of time, such as "five to ten years." The actual release date within that range is determined by a parole board based on the inmate's behavior and rehabilitation. This sentencing structure aims to encourage rehabilitation and individualize punishment.
