Life with the possibility of parole

A criminal sentence imposing imprisonment for the remainder of an offender's natural life, but with the opportunity for release after serving a specified minimum term. The parole board evaluates factors such as rehabilitation, behavior, and public safety risk to determine eligibility for release. This sentence is distinct from a fixed-term sentence.
