Indispensable party

A party whose interest in a lawsuit is so central that the court cannot render a complete and fair judgment without their presence. If an indispensable party cannot be joined, the court may be forced to dismiss the case. Federal Rule of Civil Procedure 19 governs the joinder of such parties.
