Compulsory joinder

A legal doctrine requiring certain parties to be included in a lawsuit if their absence would prevent the court from granting complete relief among those already parties, or if their interests would be impaired by the litigation. Federal Rule of Civil Procedure 19 governs compulsory joinder in U.S. federal courts.
