Jury trial

A legal proceeding in which a jury of citizens hears the evidence and arguments presented by both sides and then delivers a verdict based on the facts and the law. The judge presides over the trial, rules on legal matters, and instructs the jury on the applicable law. The right to a jury trial is enshrined in the Sixth and Seventh Amendments of the U.S. Constitution.
