Lacey Act

A United States conservation law prohibiting the trafficking of illegally harvested wildlife, fish, and plants. It makes it unlawful to import, export, transport, sell, receive, acquire, or purchase any fish, wildlife, or plant taken, possessed, transported, or sold in violation of any federal, state, foreign, or Indian tribal law. The Act was first enacted in 1900 and has been amended several times to broaden its scope.
