Mental suffering

A form of non-physical injury for which a person can seek damages in a civil lawsuit, encompassing emotional or psychological harm such as fright, anxiety, grief, or humiliation. Also known as emotional distress, it can be claimed as part of a personal injury case or, in some circumstances, as a standalone cause of action for intentional or negligent infliction of emotional distress. Courts require plaintiffs to provide evidence demonstrating the severity and genuineness of the suffering.
