Intentional infliction of emotional distress

A tort claim alleging that a defendant's extreme and outrageous conduct intentionally or recklessly caused severe emotional suffering to another person. The conduct must be beyond the bounds of decency and considered intolerable in a civilized community. This tort requires proof of actual severe emotional distress.
