Minitrial
Term · Law · MLC-T-LAW-003246
A form of alternative dispute resolution where lawyers for each party present a summarized version of their case to senior executives of the opposing parties. The executives, who have settlement authority, listen to the presentations and then meet, with or without a neutral advisor, to negotiate a resolution. Unlike a formal trial, the outcome of a minitrial is non-binding unless the parties subsequently agree to a settlement based on the proceedings.
