Plant closing

The permanent or temporary shutdown of a single site of employment, or one or more facilities or operating units within a single site, that results in an employment loss for a specified number of employees. Federal law, specifically the Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification (WARN) Act, requires employers to provide advance notice of such closings to affected employees. The WARN Act generally applies to employers with 100 or more employees.
