Primogeniture

A system of inheritance where the eldest legitimate son inherits all of his parents' or a deceased relative's estate, particularly real property. This historical practice was common in feudal societies and monarchies to keep estates intact. It has largely been abolished in modern legal systems in favor of more equitable distribution.
