Rebuttal

The presentation of evidence or arguments intended to contradict or disprove the claims or evidence presented by an opposing party in a legal proceeding. This phase of a trial allows each side to respond to the other's case after the initial presentation of evidence. In a debate, rebuttal serves a similar purpose of refuting opposing arguments.
