Reciprocal beneficiaries

A legal status, formerly recognized in some jurisdictions, that granted certain rights and benefits to unmarried couples, including same-sex couples, similar to those enjoyed by married spouses. This status provided a framework for shared property, inheritance, and healthcare decisions. It has largely been superseded by civil unions or marriage equality laws in many places.
