Remainderman

A person who holds a future interest in property that will become possessory after the termination of a prior estate, such as a life estate. This individual does not have immediate possession but will receive the property outright once the preceding interest expires. The interest of a remainderman is created at the same time and by the same instrument as the prior estate.
