Repair and deduct

A tenant's legal remedy that permits them to make necessary repairs to a rental property and then subtract the cost of those repairs from their rent. This option is available when a landlord fails to maintain the property in a habitable condition after receiving proper notice. State laws often limit the amount a tenant can deduct and the types of repairs covered.
