Representative payee

An individual or organization designated by a government agency to receive and manage benefits on behalf of someone who is unable to manage their own funds. This arrangement is common for beneficiaries of Social Security, veterans' benefits, or other public assistance programs who are minors or have mental or physical impairments. The payee is legally obligated to use the funds for the beneficiary's best interest.
