Request to admit

A written declaration served by one party to a lawsuit upon another, asking the receiving party to affirm or deny the truth of certain facts or the authenticity of specific documents. The purpose is to narrow the issues in dispute and avoid unnecessary proof at trial. Any matter admitted is considered conclusively established for the purpose of the pending action.
