A single written question submitted by one party in a lawsuit to another party, which must be answered under oath. This is a component of the discovery process, designed to obtain factual information relevant to the case. Answers to interrogatories can be used as evidence during trial.
Written questions submitted by one party in a lawsuit to another party, which must be answered under oath. These are a discovery tool used to gather information and narrow down issues before trial. The Federal Rules of Civil Procedure limit the number of interrogatories that can be served without court permission.
Written questions sent by one party in a lawsuit to an opposing party as part of pretrial discovery in civil cases. The party receiving the interrogatories is required to answer them in writing under oath.
