Similarly situated

A legal standard used to compare individuals for the purpose of determining whether they have been treated differently under the law, particularly in discrimination cases. To be considered similarly situated, individuals must share relevant characteristics and have engaged in comparable conduct, allowing for a meaningful comparison of their treatment by an employer or government entity. In a class action lawsuit, the lead plaintiff must demonstrate that the other members of the proposed class are similarly situated with respect to the legal claims.
