Tenancy by the entirety

A form of concurrent ownership of real property available exclusively to married couples in some jurisdictions. It treats the spouses as a single legal entity, granting each an undivided interest in the whole property with a right of survivorship. Neither spouse can unilaterally convey or encumber their interest without the consent of the other.
A form of property ownership available exclusively to married couples in some jurisdictions. This type of tenancy treats the couple as a single legal entity, meaning neither spouse can unilaterally sell, mortgage, or transfer their interest without the consent of the other. Upon the death of one spouse, the entire property automatically passes to the surviving spouse, bypassing probate.
