Joint tenancy

A form of co-ownership of property by two or more persons, characterized by the 'right of survivorship,' meaning that upon the death of one tenant, their interest automatically passes to the surviving tenant(s). This avoids probate for the jointly held asset. It requires the four unities of time, title, interest, and possession to be present.
