Nonprobate assets

Property that passes to beneficiaries outside of the formal probate process upon the death of the owner. These assets typically have a designated beneficiary or a form of ownership that dictates their transfer automatically. Examples include life insurance policies, retirement accounts, and property held in joint tenancy with right of survivorship.
