The federal law enforcement agency responsible for protecting the federal judiciary, apprehending federal fugitives, managing and selling seized assets, and operating the Witness Security Program. It is the oldest federal law enforcement agency in the United States, established by the Judiciary Act of 1789. The USMS also provides security for federal courts and transports prisoners.
