Ward

A person, typically a minor or an incapacitated adult, who is placed under the legal protection and care of a guardian or court. The guardian is responsible for the ward's personal well-being, financial affairs, or both, depending on the court order. State laws govern the appointment of guardians and the rights and responsibilities associated with being a ward.
