Will contest

A formal legal objection raised in probate court to challenge the validity of a last will and testament. An interested party, such as an heir or beneficiary, initiates the proceeding, arguing that the will should not be admitted to probate. Common grounds for a contest include lack of testamentary capacity, undue influence exerted on the testator, improper execution of the document, or the existence of a more recent, valid will.
