Words of procreation

Term · Law · MLC-T-LAW-005254

Language in a conveyance of real property, such as a deed or will, that indicates an intent to create a fee tail estate. This phrasing limits the inheritance of the property to the direct lineal descendants, or 'heirs of the body,' of the initial grantee. Most U.S. jurisdictions have abolished or modified the fee tail, with statutes often converting such language into a fee simple absolute or a life estate with a remainder to the grantee's children.
