Writ of garnishment

A court order instructing a third party, such as a bank or employer, to withhold funds or property belonging to a judgment debtor. These withheld assets are then turned over to a judgment creditor to satisfy a debt. This process is frequently used to collect on unpaid judgments, often targeting wages or bank accounts.
