Wrongful termination in violation of public policy

The dismissal of an employee for reasons that contravene a clear public policy, even if the employment was at-will. Examples include firing an employee for refusing to commit an illegal act, reporting illegal conduct, or exercising a legal right. This exception to at-will employment protects societal interests.
