Absolute radiation scale

Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-003189

A historical standard for measuring solar irradiance, established in 1956 to unify measurements from different types of pyrheliometers. It provided a common reference for calibrating instruments that measure the intensity of direct solar radiation. This scale was eventually superseded by the World Radiometric Reference (WRR), which has been the internationally accepted standard since 1980.
