Acceleration

The rate of change of velocity of an object or fluid parcel with respect to time. It is a vector quantity, possessing both magnitude and direction. In meteorology, atmospheric accelerations are caused by forces such as pressure gradients, gravity, and the Coriolis effect, driving atmospheric motions.
